DCP Traffic Virendra Vij said that the traffic police will set up checkpoints at eight places to conduct the checks. He said that during the New Year celebrations, people also drive vehicles after consuming alcohol.
Keeping in mind the safety of the general public and the successful operation of vehicles, the Traffic Police Gurugram will take action by setting up check posts at various places. DCP Traffic said that 8 check posts will be specially set up on 31 December 2024. A total of 80 traffic police officers and policemen, including 08 traffic inspectors, 16 zonal officers, 40 OAS and 10 other employees, have been deployed on these check posts.
Let us tell you that from 1 January 2024 to 27 December 2024, Traffic Police Gurugram has challaned a total of 25,968 drivers including 219 female drivers who were driving after consuming alcohol. If found driving a vehicle after drinking alcohol during the New Year celebrations, action will be taken by the traffic police as per the rules under the Motor Vehicle Act.
Special duty of traffic policemen imposed
Separate special duties of traffic police officers and employees have also been imposed, so that the system of operation of any type of vehicles does not get disturbed. The concerned DCPs of all the zones have also set up alcohol checkpoints in their respective areas, so that New Year 2025 can be celebrated with joy as well as in a safe and peaceful manner.
Special eye will be on hooligans
Do not create any disturbance in the preparations for the New Year celebrations in the city. The police will keep a special eye on the hooligans. Also, two thousand policemen will be deployed for the safety of the people. Then the police will do checking by setting up checkpoints at 65 places. So that no accident happens on New Year.
