Bus-truck drivers are on strike against the new law brought by the Central Government regarding hit and run, due to which the transport system has come to a complete standstill. Due to non-availability of fuel, long lines have formed at petrol pumps.
Truck and dumper drivers across the country went on strike in protest against the Hint and Run law brought by the Central Government. He says that this law is wrong and it should be withdrawn. With this demand, truck drivers parked their trucks on the roads and blocked roads in many places including Mumbai, Indore, Delhi-Haryana, UP.
What is Hint and Run Law?
In fact, the Central Government has made new laws regarding crime, under which if a truck or dumper driver runs over someone and runs away, he will be jailed for 10 years. Apart from this, a fine of Rs 7 lakh will also have to be paid. Earlier in this case, the accused driver used to get bail within a few days and he used to come out of the police station itself. However, under this law also there was a provision of two years’ imprisonment.
Anger among truck drivers against the new law
There is huge anger among truck drivers after this decision of the government. They say that this is completely wrong. The government will have to withdraw this law. Regarding this, truck drivers parked their vehicles in Ecotech 3 area of Greater Noida and blocked the road and raised slogans. However, after being persuaded by the police, they removed their vehicles.
Chakka jam in Indore also
The truck drivers’ strike in Indore, Madhya Pradesh also affected the petrol pumps. There were long lines of vehicles at the petrol pump here. It is being told that this strike of truck drivers will last for three days. Due to which the fuel will not be able to reach the petrol pump. As soon as this news spread, people started reaching the petrol pump, due to which long queues of vehicles formed.
Truck drivers on strike in Mumbai
The effect of the strike was visible in MP, Delhi as well as Maharashtra. Where there were massive protests against the new law brought by the government. Due to their strike there was a long traffic jam on the roads.
Anger of drivers visible in Dewas
The anger of bus and truck drivers was visible in Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh. During this time, they tried to block roads at 2-3 places in the city. After that, there was a blockade on Rasoolpur bypass for two hours, due to which long queues of vehicles were formed. Here, despite the explanation from the police and administration, the drivers did not agree and the demonstration continued.
Wheels of trucks stopped in Panna
In Panna district of Madhya Pradesh, bus and truck drivers blocked National Highway-39. Passengers also remained troubled due to the bus drivers’ strike. With this, long lines of vehicles formed on the roads. During this, they also raised slogans of ‘take back the black law’.
Demonstration in Hanumangarh of Rajasthan also
Truck and bus drivers also took to the streets in Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan. They protested against this law by blocking the highway. After this the driver reached the District Collectorate, where he also gave a strict warning to the government and administration.
