New Delhi. Many new rules have been implemented by the central government from Saturday, June 1. With the new rules, the process of obtaining a driving license (DL) will be simplified. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) recently announced changes in the process of obtaining a driving license, so as to simplify the process and reduce red tape while promoting better trained drivers.
Relief from long queues
One of the biggest changes that will be implemented is that one does not need to queue up at the nearest Regional Transport Office (RTO) to take the driving test, which operate under the respective state governments.
Changes in driving test
Under the new driving license rules, people will get the option to give driving tests at private training centers instead of RTO. However, these training centers will have to get approval from the government to conduct the test in order to issue a driving license.
After completing the driving test, these centers will issue certificates to the successful applicants. These certificates can be used to apply for a driving license through government RTOs.
Fee also amended
The Center has also amended the fees related to the process of obtaining a driving license and its renewal from June 1. Rs 200 will have to be paid to obtain a permanent driving license or learning license or to renew both. The fee for obtaining an international driving license will be Rs 1,000 per application. For convenience, the process of obtaining these licenses will now be completely digital.
Penalty amount increased
The Center has also approved amendments to the fines imposed for driving without a valid driving license. From June 1, drivers violating this traffic rule will have to pay a fine of 2,000. How much is the challan on your vehicle? Check online in these ways
