Driving License, driving test exemption: Media reports claimed that now there will be no need to pass this test for driving license. Now the government has given clarification on these reports.
Driving License, driving Test exemption: The most difficult task to get a driving license is to pass the driving test. Recently, some media reports claimed that now there will be no need to pass this test for driving license. It was also said in the reports that these rules will come into effect from June 1, 2024. Now the government has given clarification on this rule. The government has said that no such rule has been changed.
Driving License, driving Test exemption: The rule is applicable from the year 2021, no change has been made in June 1, 2024
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has said in its statement that in reference to the news being circulated in some media sections, the government clarifies that rules 31B to 31J added to the Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR), 1989 through GSR 394(E) on 07 June 2021, which prescribe provisions relating to Accredited Driver Training Centers (ADTC), came into force from 01 July 2021 and will not be changed from 01 June 2024.
Driving License, driving Test exemption: Exemption from driving test is available on ADTC certificate
The ministry further said that apart from this, it has also been informed that Section 12 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 provides for licensing and regulation of driving schools or institutions. It was amended in 2019 through the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act. This added new subsections for schools recognized by the Central Government. Recognition for ADTC can be given by the State Transport Authority or any agency notified by the Central Government. The certificate issued by ADTC on completion of the course (Form 5B) exempts the holder from the driving test.
Driving License, driving Test exemption: Form 5 holders will have to give driving test for license
According to the government, any other type of driving school, which follows less stringent rules, issues a certificate (Form 5) upon completion of the course. However, this certificate does not exempt the holder from the driving test. The application for a driving licence must be accompanied by Form 5 or Form 5B. However, despite the exemption from the driving test, the final power to issue a driving licence rests with the licensing authority.
