e-challaned: If you have been e-challaned for reasons like jumping red signal, riding triple, driving without helmet etc, then now you will not have to pay the fine. Yogi government had issued an order regarding this. Now the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Varanasi has given the order. On the orders of the court, e-challans from the year 2017 to 2021 will be waived off by the traffic department in Varanasi. For this, a government order was also issued in the month of May last. But if the e-challan is not resolved in the traffic department within three days, they go to court. Therefore, the government order had not been complied with till now.

Even after the government order, the department remained silent considering it to be a court proceeding. Now the court has directed the traffic department to remove all e-challans before 2021 from its portal. According to the Traffic Department, challans of more than 11 lakh people will be waived from 2017 to 2021. Since the rate of depositors has been low. Pending challans are high.

On May 19 this year, an order was issued by the government to waive all e-challans before December 2021. The related e-challans could not be settled till now since May. The details of all the previous challans were with the court, hence the traffic department was maintaining silence. Now the Chief Judicial Magistrate has directed the Assistant Police Commissioner of the Traffic Department.

It has been said that as per the government order, the court cannot take cognizance of e-challans made before 2021. Therefore, dispose of the e-challan related to your portal. DCP Traffic Prabal Pratap Singh said that compliance will be done as per the instructions of the court. The data will be released through the portal. Information about disposal will also be given.

Challan of three and a half lakh rupees in the year 2021

In the year 2021, about three and a half lakh e-challans were issued. In this, there was a fine of more than Rs 1 crore 18 lakh for driving without helmet, three riders, over speeding, car driving without belt etc. This means that this much amount of challan will be waived off.
