New Delhi. E-education has gained a lot due to 4G and Corona epidemic. Smartphone usage of school students has increased by 25.3% in the last 2 years. Therefore, now the government is working on a policy of increasing the use of e-education. Educational inequality can be overcome by using it properly. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said this in the Economic Survey 2021 laid on the table of the Parliament from the budget.
In the Economic Review quoting the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) 2020 Wave-1 (Rural), in the year 2018, 36.5% of the students of government and private schools used smartphones. In the year 2020, this number has increased to 61.8%. The survey said that during the Corona epidemic, the government has made efforts like PM eVIDYA to access children’s education. 92 courses have been started under ‘Self Massive Open Online Course’ (MOOC). Enrollment of 1.5 crore students has been done.
The survey has said that to provide quality education in schools and institutes, the government has announced a new National Education Policy 2020. It has a focus on affordable and competitive education.
Allocation of Rs. 267.86 crore for online teacher training. To ease
the access of education to children during the coronavirus epidemic, the Central Government has allocated Rs. 818.17 crore to the States / Union Territories. Apart from this, 267.86 crore rupees have been allocated for online teacher training under the Composite Education Scheme. This amount has been used to promote online learning through digital efforts.
Literacy rate achieved around 96% at primary school level
According to the survey, India has attained literacy rate of around 96% at primary school level. According to the National Sample Survey (NSS), the literacy rate of people aged 7 years or older is 77.7% at the All India level. According to the Economic Survey, India will have the largest number of youth in the population in the next decade globally. The ability to provide them high quality educational opportunities will determine the future of the country. However, the concern is that the literacy rate of women is lower than the national average.
