Delhi Education News: Now from the academic year 2023-24, students of fifth and eighth grade will be passed or failed on the basis of their annual examination results.

Delhi News: Under the National Education Policy, the Directorate of Education has removed the No Detention Policy, changing the policy of promoting fifth and eighth grade students after the annual examination. After which now from the academic year 2023-24, the students of fifth and eighth grade will be passed or failed on the basis of their annual examination results. After this change of the Directorate of Education, now the no detention policy has been abolished for the fifth and eighth grade students of all private, government aided, corporation and Cantonment Boards of Delhi.

‘Failing students will not be promoted to the next class’

The students of these classes will now have to give annual examinations like the students of higher secondary classes. In which they will not be promoted to the next class if they fail. However, such students will get a chance to re-appear in the exam after two months, but even after this, if they are unable to pass, they will be placed in the ‘Essential Repeat’ category. In such a situation, those students will have to study again in the same class.

‘You can complain to the Deputy Director of Education’

However, students belonging to EWS (Economically Backward Class), DG (Disadvantaged Group) and CWSN (Disabled Category) studying in class V and VIII in private schools are dissatisfied and complaining about their results, then they can approach the Deputy Education Board of the concerned district or zone. You can complain to the director in this regard. The complaint committee formed for this will hear all such cases on behalf of the students and parents of this category, in which the students have not been promoted to the next class.

‘There will be revaluation of exam results’

The examination results of the students will be re-evaluated by the Grievances Committee. In which if irregularities are found, the committee will have to submit a report to the Deputy Director of Education of the concerned district to give necessary guidelines to the school. On the other hand, if the committee does not find any irregularity in re-evaluation of the results of the students of this category who have been kept in the essential repeat category by private schools, then the committee will get such students admitted from private schools to government schools.
