Delhi Government Launches 350 Electric Buses: Delhi Government has taken a big step to promote electric and green mobility in the country’s capital Delhi. Delhi government has given green signal to 350 electric buses to run on the roads of Delhi. Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot flagged off 350 electric buses here on Wednesday. With the commencement of operation of these new buses, the number of electric buses in Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has increased to 1650.
Green signal given to 350 e-buses
Kejriwal said in a post on social media platform ‘X’ that today we are dedicating 350 electric buses to the people of Delhi. With this the number of our e-buses has increased to 1650. Now there will be more help in reducing pollution on the roads of Delhi. Electric mobility will also be promoted.
400 buses were added in September
Let us tell you that in the month of September, Delhi government had added 400 electric buses to the DTC fleet. After this, there were a total of 800 electric buses in Delhi’s fleet. In a post on X, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena said that out of 1500 electric buses, the first batch of 400 electric buses has been sent to Delhi. This has been done by the Central Government.
Under the FAME-2 scheme, the central government will deploy 1500 electric buses in Delhi. In this, 921 electric buses will be available under FAME-2 subsidy, during which a subsidy of Rs 416.82 crore will be given by the Central Government. Apart from this, GNCTD will give a subsidy of Rs 262.04 crore for the remaining 579 electric buses.
