Electricity Bill: Electricity will be available up to 25% cheaper in this state, consumers will get benefit soon

Many steps are being taken continuously to provide cheap electricity in UP. This will be possible after the increase in solar energy production and the installation of smart prepaid meters in homes. Along with this, a campaign will be run among the consumers to complete as much of the work as possible before and after the peak hours.

Electricity Rules: With the increase in solar energy production and the installation of smart prepaid meters in homes, the electricity department will be in a position to provide cheap electricity to consumers. Electricity companies suffer the most losses by buying expensive electricity during peak hours, i.e. between 6 pm and 10 pm. A campaign will be run among consumers to complete as much of their work as possible before and after peak hours. If this happens, electricity companies will be in a position to provide cheap electricity.

Consumers should complete their important work during the day

After getting instructions from the Uttar Pradesh government to work towards providing cheap electricity, many steps are being taken continuously in this direction. A top official of the electricity department says that at present we get cheap electricity generated from solar at the rate of Rs 2.50 to Rs 3.00 per unit during the day. If the consumers of the state start completing most of their electricity consuming work during the day, then it will become easier to provide cheap electricity.

After the smart meters are installed in the premises of all the consumers of the state, the data of demand and consumption of electricity will be available at all times. This will make the management of electricity consumption easier.

Will be able to provide electricity up to 25 percent cheaper

According to Narendra Bhushan, Additional Chief Secretary of Energy Department, during peak hours, very expensive electricity has to be purchased from the power exchange and supplied. The price of this electricity ranges from nine to ten rupees per unit. At this time, the demand for electricity in the state is at its peak. The people of the state will have to make a habit of spending minimum electricity during this peak hour, and work that consumes more electricity will have to be done before and after the peak hour. If this happens, consumers will be able to get electricity up to 25 percent cheaper. Work is being done in a planned manner for this.

According to the Additional Chief Secretary, the biggest challenge is to get the electricity distribution companies out of losses. Technology will be used to reduce this loss. For example, personnel will be trained to give information about advanced technology like artificial intelligence.

Other important steps taken

  • UP has started the process of forming a joint venture company with NTPC Green Energy for the production of renewable energy.
  • A 4000 MW solar park is being set up by UPNEDA in Bundelkhand. 20 transmission substations are being built to evacuate electricity from this park.
  • The UP government has set a target of getting 88 percent of the estimated electricity from solar energy by 2030. The capacity of which will be around 23.5 gigawatts.

What did the officials say

Additional Chief Secretary Energy Narendra Bhushan said that with the increase in solar energy production and installation of smart meters in UP, it will be easy to provide cheap electricity. Solar energy electricity is available cheap. Consumers will only have to avoid excessive consumption of electricity between 6 pm and 10 pm.
