Electricity Bill: The government has given a Dussehra gift to lakhs of consumers who are stuck in illegal colonies and are in need of cheap electricity. The government will help the consumers living in declared and undeclared illegal colonies for the infrastructural work of electricity.
This will make it easier to use electricity by taking a connection at government rates. On the instructions of CM Dr. Mohan Yadav, two different schemes have been implemented for this on Thursday.
Bill payment in installments
This scheme will benefit domestic as well as industrialists. There are thousands of industrialists in the state who are not paying electricity bills on time due to economic recession and industries not running properly. They have crores of rupees of electricity bill dues. The government will now waive their surcharge and give them a chance to pay the bill in installments.
Udyog Mitra Yojana: 20% lump sum payment
20% of the total outstanding amount will have to be paid in lump sum. The remaining amount will be allowed to be deposited in 3 to 5 installments in a maximum period of 3 years, but for this a bank guarantee will have to be given. The surcharge amount will be completely waived. The industrialists who have filed cases in the court will have to withdraw the cases to avail the benefit of the said scheme.
More than 10 thousand illegal colonies
There are more than 10 thousand illegal colonies in the state. Out of these, 7981 illegal colonies are marked. In these, infrastructure development for electricity system has not been done as per the norms, hence the electricity companies are not giving connections to the residents. Builders have taken connections in their name, from where these residents get electricity at expensive prices.
In this, 75 percent relief will be given in the total cost of infrastructure construction. Only 25 percent of the cost will have to be deposited. This benefit will be given to illegally declared and undeclared colonies. In which connections will be given to individuals and groups. Builders, colonizers and societies will not get the benefit. Welfare associations of the bodies and colonies will have to apply to the electricity companies. The benefit will be available only for a period of two years.
