Electricity Corporation launched a scheme to resolve the outstanding bills of domestic consumers

Electricity bill surcharge waiver: Haryana government has launched Surcharge Waiver Scheme 2024 to resolve the bills of those electricity consumers who had bills due till December 2023 and have not deposited the bill yet. Under this, only the principal amount has to be paid. This amount can be deposited in lump sum or in three installments. An additional discount of five percent will be given on the principal amount on lump sum deposit.

Dr. Saket Kumar, Managing Director of Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, said that the frozen surcharge will be waived in proportion to the regular payment of the prescribed installments and the next three monthly/bi-monthly bills. If the consumer does not pay the prescribed installments and the next three monthly/bi-monthly bills continuously, then the frozen surcharge will be added back to the bill and the consumer will be considered out of the scheme. He said that the wrong bills made to the consumers will be corrected as per the rules of the department. Such consumers whose case is pending in the court can also opt for this scheme. Provided they have to withdraw their case from the court. In case of disconnected electricity connections, the consumer’s connection will be restored on payment of a lump sum amount or on payment of the first installment of the principal amount, provided that the disconnected connection should not be older than six months. In case of connections disconnected for more than six months, the applicant will have to apply for a new connection. Domestic consumers of urban and rural areas can avail the benefits of this scheme.
