Bihar Smart Meter: Bihar’s electricity company has adopted a new method to install smart prepaid meters in rural areas. Now officials will go to villages and explain the benefits of smart meters to people. For those who do not have smartphones, the meter reader will recharge. The company’s goal is to make this scheme successful by removing people’s misconceptions.
Patna: Electricity companies in Bihar are now changing the way they install smart meters. After complaints of forceful installation of meters, the company will now install meters in rural areas only after convincing people. The company says that it wants to clear all the misunderstandings of the people.
First information will be given, then meters will be installed
The company has admitted that earlier people were not being given complete information about the meter. That is why now the officials of the electricity company themselves will go to the villages and tell people about smart meters. They will be told how the smart meter works and what are its benefits. For this, senior officials of the company will visit the villages and talk to the people.
The company has also clarified that for those elderly people who do not have a smartphone or have difficulty in recharging, meter readers will go door to door. Meter readers will recharge their meters. Apart from this, recharge facility will also be provided in all panchayats.
Speed of installing smart meters slowed down
However, due to these changes, the pace of installing smart meters has slowed down a bit. Earlier, where 4000 meters were installed daily, now this number has come down to 2000 to 3000. The company says that soon this speed will increase again. The work of installing meters in Fatuha and Naubatpur of Patna district is going on well. There is some difficulty in working in flood affected areas.
It is believed that this decision of the electricity company has brought relief to those people who were troubled by the forced installation of meters. The company says that it wants to remove all the misunderstandings of the people. The company hopes that soon this scheme will be made successful by explaining the benefits of smart meters to everyone.
