Protests in Iran
Iranian women have found themselves compelled to fear the dishonesty of the morality police. Those found to be in violation of the Islamic Republic’s dress code were taken to one of Vice Unit’s green and white vans for lectures on how to wear their headscarves. Many Iranian women have faced even worse conditions. One of them was 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who was picked up by the ethics police in Tehran on 16 September and pronounced dead three days later.
