The labor ministry, representatives of the industry and people associated with the labor union will sit face to face to discuss the new labor laws once again. According to information received by Hindustan, the final round of talks will probably take place in the meeting between the stakeholders on Wednesday.
Decision on PF and holiday limits will be made
According to the information, a decision is also to be taken on the demand for raising the limit of PF and earned leave raised by the Labor Unions in this meeting. The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh has demanded from the government that the eligibility criteria under the Employees ‘Provident Fund Scheme i.e. EPF, to be increased from Rs 15,000 to Rs 21,000 monthly salary, similar to the Employees’ State Insurance Scheme. At the same time, the people associated with the union want the limit of earned leave to be increased from 240 to 300 days. The government has been asked to frame separate rules for building and other construction workers, bidi workers, journalists and audio-visual workers as well as cinema-related workers.

New labor law is to come into force from 1 April
New legislation related to labor reforms was passed by Parliament in September 2020. Now the central government is trying to implement them before April this year i.e. in the current financial year. A meeting was held with all stakeholders through video conferencing on behalf of the central government, which has also been boycotted by many labor unions. This is the reason that the meeting to be held on January 20 can be a face-to-face meeting. According to the officer associated with the case, these laws will be discussed in the last round. Efforts will be made to resolve all the issues and the rules will be notified shortly thereafter.
