Due to this decision of the government, an additional expenditure burden of Rs 6.78 crore has been estimated on the UP government. Information about this decision taken in the cabinet has been given by Finance Minister Suresh Khanna. Giving information, he said that the constable and the head constable were given ₹ 200 as a bicycle. Which has been converted into motorcycle allowance. Along with this, the proposal of motorcycle allowance of ₹ 500 per month has been approved.
The Finance Minister said that constables and head constables of the police department have to reach the crime scene on various types of very important duties during their work responsibilities. In such a situation, this is not possible by bicycle in the present situation. Therefore, to maintain law and order, the proposal to use motorcycles in place of bicycles and motorcycle allowance has been approved.
According to the government order of 2018, there was a provision to give an amount of Rs 200 to the employees eligible for cycle allowance in all departments. The Finance Minister has clarified that the decision to convert cycle allowance into motorcycle allowance will be applicable only to constables and head constables working in the police department. In other government departments only cycle allowance will be provided to all the employees.
