Government Employees DA Hike: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday announced a four percent increase in the dearness allowance (DA) of government employees. This increase will be applicable from December. President of Punjab State Ministry Allied Services Union (PSMSU) Amrik Singh said that after the increase, DA will increase to 38 percent. The decision in this regard was taken after a meeting here with representatives of PSMSU. During the meeting, Mann discussed various demands of the employees.
Benefit will be available from 1st December
Mann wrote on the social media platform (x), “Today held a meeting with the representatives of Punjab State Ministry Allied Services Union and discussed their issues in detail. Happy to inform that we are happy to give a New Year gift to the employees. Going in. DA has been increased by four percent, which will be effective from December 1, 2023.”

Will there be further increase in DA?
After the meeting, PSMSU President said that the Chief Minister assured that the remaining eight percent DA will also be given soon. The employees were demanding implementation of the old pension scheme, release of pending 12 percent DA and regularization of contractual employees. PSMSU on Sunday suspended its more than a month-long strike, which started on November 8. He had postponed his strike before the meeting with the Chief Minister.
