The variable dearness allowance of employees and workers has been amended. Will be implemented from October 1. With this, up to Rs 25,000 will be visible in his account.

Amendment in Variable Dearness Allowance from 1 October 2023
The order issued by the Railways said that the Variable Dearness Allowance was amended by the Ministry of Labor and Employment of the Central Government on the basis of Average Price Index as of June 30, 2023. It was increased from 378.58 to 385.97. Under this, the variable dearness allowance of railway contract workers has been amended with effect from October 1, 2023.
The rate of VDA for staff working in watch and ward without arms will be Rs 278 for A category, Rs 253 for B category and Rs 215 for C category. Along with this, contract government rate watch and ward workers without weapons in Railways will be given a benefit of Rs 915 per day as per the basic salary of Rs 637 for X category along with dearness allowance of Rs 278 per day.
For B category, along with basic pay of Rs 579 and dearness allowance of Rs 253, they will be paid Rs 832 per day. Whereas for C category, they will be paid Rs 709 per day on the basis of basic salary Rs 494 along with dearness allowance of Rs 215.
Salaries of watch and ward personnel with weapons
- Dearness allowance fixed at Rs 299 per day for A category employees
- Whereas for B category employees Rs 278 and Rs.

Determination of total salary
In such a situation, the total salary has been determined along with the basic salary including dearness allowance, which will be applicable from October 1, 2023.
- A category employees will get the benefit of basic salary of Rs 693 along with variable dearness allowance of Rs 299. Along with this, they will be paid Rs 992 per day.
- B category employees will get the benefit of basic salary of Rs 637 along with variable dearness allowance of Rs 278. Along with this, they will be paid Rs 915 per day.
- C category employees will get the benefit of basic salary of Rs 579 along with variable dearness allowance of Rs 253. Along with this, they will be paid Rs 832 per day.
