Workers will get paid leave in Madhya Pradesh, Labor Department gave instructions
Actually, according to the announcement of the Election Commission, this time elections will be held on 29 Lok Sabha seats of Madhya Pradesh in four phases (April 19, April 26, May 7 and May 13), in such a situation, workers will be given paid leave for voting. Under this, no unit will be able to stop workers from going to vote nor will they be able to deduct their salaries. For this, the Labor Department has issued guidelines to all the collectors. This provision will not apply to those workers whose absence poses any threat.
Paid leave to employees and officers in Bihar too, notification issued
Bihar’s Nitish Kumar government has also announced paid holiday for employees of public and private institutions on the day of voting during the Lok Sabha elections. Let us tell you that voting for 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar will be held in 7 phases between April 19 and June 1 (April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1). The by-election for Agiaon (Bhojpur) assembly constituency will also be held on June 1. According to a notification issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), there will be a holiday in offices and workplaces in all Lok Sabha constituencies where voting will be held on June 1. According to Section 135 (B) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, there is a provision for giving paid leave to employees on the day of voting.
Paid leave to employees in Chhattisgarh also
For the Lok Sabha Elections-2024, every worker working in private or public establishments, shops, industrial undertakings or businesses will be provided paid leave to exercise their franchise on the polling day as per the provisions of Section 135B of the Representation of the People 1951. Voting in the state of Chhattisgarh will be conducted by the Election Commission of India in 3 phases, in the first phase 19 April (Friday), in the second phase 28 April 2024 (Friday) and in the third phase 7 May (Tuesday).
Holiday declared in Rajasthan also, salary will not be cut
- During the Lok Sabha elections-2024, a paid holiday has been declared for all workers in private, industrial institutions and government undertakings on the voting day in Rajasthan. According to Section 135 ‘B’ of the Public Representation Act 1951, arrangements have been made to grant paid leave to employees on the day of voting. Rajasthan Government has issued a notification in this regard.
- Let us tell you that the first phase of voting in the state will be on April 19 for 12 Lok Sabha constituencies, and for the second phase on April 26, there will be a holiday in offices and workplaces located in the remaining 13 Lok Sabha constituencies.
- According to this, in case leave is granted, no deduction or reduction will be made from the salary of any worker. These provisions shall not apply to voters whose absence from work would cause danger or material loss in connection with the employment in which he is employed.
