A proposal has also been issued by the Defense Ministry regarding leaves of women deployed in the armed forces. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has approved the proposal to extend the rule of maternity, child care and child adoption leave to women soldiers, sailors and air warriors in the armed forces at par with their officer counterparts, the rule issued said.
In such a situation, women soldiers will be given the same leave benefits as officers. The Defense Ministry has said that continuous efforts are being made by the PM Modi-led government to make women power self-reliant and empowered. Women soldiers of all three armies will be given the same leave benefits as officers. Approval for this has been given by the Minister. A paradigm shift is being initiated there.
The Ministry has clarified in its order that continuous efforts are being made for women in the armed forces, including the recruitment of women fire fighters. The provision will provide significant benefits to women officers and employees.
