EPF e-nomination benefits: Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) is constantly simplifying its rules. Gradually everything has become online. Provident Fund account holders are getting many facilities in the Digital India program. EPFO has started the e-nomination process to provide convenience to account holders at home. Through this service, a member can make his family member a nominee on the online portal.
Who can claim in e-nomination?
In case of death of the nominee employee, any family member can avail the benefits of Provident Fund, Pension (EPS-Pension) and EDLI Insurance Scheme by filling e-nomination while sitting at home. According to EPFO Provident Fund Commissioner-2 Sushant Kandwal, it is necessary for every member of Employees’ Provident Fund Scheme (EPF) and Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS) to fill the nominee. After this, the nominee can claim in all the schemes mentioned above.
Benefit of EPF, EPS, Free Insurance
Nomination has been made much easier than before. Nomination includes family members like parents, husband-wife, siblings or any other eligible family member. Having the name and details of the nominee makes it easy to get Provident Fund money (PF), pension money (EPS fund) or EDLI insurance money in case of the death of the employee. Let us tell you, the maximum limit of insurance provided by EPFO is up to Rs 7 lakh.
The claim will be settled only after nomination
According to Kandpal, earlier for nomination, the employee had to fill Form-2 in hard copy and submit it in the EPFO office. But, under the Digital India program, now the account holder member can file e-nomination of the family member sitting at home on the e-service portal. E-nomination is necessary for pension and death claim settlement. A circular has also been issued by the EPFO in this regard. So far, out of 8.50 lakh Provident Fund accounts, only 28 thousand account holders have done e-nomination.

How to file e-nomination?
– Go to Member e-Sewa Portal www.unifiedportal-mem-epfindia.gov.in.
– Login using UAN and Password.
– Upload passport size photo in View Profile option.
– Go to Manage section and click on e-nomination.
– Enter nominee’s name, Aadhaar number, photo, date of birth, bank account number.
– Click on e-sign on the next page and generate OTP through Aadhaar.
– Enter the OTP received on the mobile linked to Aadhaar.
– Your e-nomination will be filed.
