EPF Withdraw: EPF is a popular savings scheme under the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). It works under the supervision of the Government of India. Under this, both the employee and the employer contribute 12% of the employee’s basic salary and dearness allowance to EPF.
Currently, the annual interest on EPF deposits is 8.1%. It comes in handy for the families of EPF members in case of accidental death due to any reason. In such a situation, the deposit amount is withdrawn by the nominee, but what to do if there is no nominee. In such a situation, this money can be withdrawn by any member of the family or whoever is the legal heir.
How to withdraw money after death of EPF member
- Fill Form No. 20 with all the necessary details of the EPF member and its claimant.
After submitting the form, the information is received through SMS alert. You can also check its status through the EPFO website. - Only after the completion of the entire process, the money is directly credited to the bank account of the legal heir. (Note- This application has to be given through the claimant where he/she was last employed. If the claim is made through the form downloaded from EPFIndia website, then all the pages must be signed by the claimant as well as the employer) .

- Employees can claim under the Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme by filling Form 5(IF). This will happen only if the member died while in service. Apart from this, the institution where the member was working should be covered under EDLI scheme.
- If the member has died after 58 years and till then he has not completed 10 years of service, then in this case Form 10C will be filled for withdrawal.
