EPFO: Employees should complete the work of linking UAN number with Aadhaar as soon as possible. If you want to take advantage of the ELI (Employment Linked Incentive) scheme of EPFO i.e. Employees’ Provident Fund Organization, then it is necessary to link the Universal Account Number (UAN) with Aadhaar by March 15, 2025. EPFO has extended the deadline for this work several times, so that more and more employees can take advantage of this scheme.
What is ELI scheme?
ELI scheme was launched in the Union Budget 2024. Its aim is to promote jobs and motivate companies to hire new employees. Both companies and employees get benefits under this scheme.
Three parts of ELI scheme:
Scheme A – Companies will get a subsidy of Rs 15,000 on giving jobs to new graduates, which will be given in three installments.
Scheme B – Special for the manufacturing sector, where new recruitments will get an incentive of Rs 3,000 per month for 2 years.
Scheme C – Incentives will be given to increase the workforce in different industries. The government will soon issue its rules.
Why is it necessary to link UAN with Aadhaar?
- According to EPFO, employees can avail many benefits by linking UAN (Universal Account Number) with Aadhaar:
- Can view PF passbook online.
- Can claim online.
- Benefits of government schemes will be available directly in the bank account.
- You will not have to open a new PF account on changing jobs – the old account will continue.
How to link UAN with Aadhaar?
- Visit EPFO portal: https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/
- Click on Activate UAN.
- Enter UAN number, Aadhaar number, date of birth and mobile number.
- Verify through OTP.
- Set password and activate UAN.
What will happen after the deadline?
If you do not link UAN with Aadhaar by March 15, 2025, then you will not get the benefit of ELI scheme. It is also possible that the government may extend its deadline. The government has extended the deadline earlier as well.
