Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) allows customers to view EPF balance using Universal Account Number (UAN). But even if you do not remember the UAN number, there is no need to worry.
You can check EPF balance in four ways. This can be done through EPFO portal, UMANG app, missed call and SMS service. However, most of these require users to activate the UAN number, which will be done only through the official portal.
Suppose if the users forget the UAN, still they can check their PF balance by giving a missed call on 011-229014016 from the registered mobile number. In this situation, there is no need for the users to provide the UAN number. However, for this the UAN should be registered on the portal and they should have KYC details in their account. UAN is an identification number which is mentioned in the monthly salary slip of an employee. It is different for each employee enrolled under the EPF scheme.
Users with a UAN number can activate it on the EPFO website by following these steps:
Step-1 Go to the EPFO website and click on ‘Active UAN’ at the bottom-right corner of the page.
Step-2 After that enter UAN, Name, Date of Birth, Mobile Number and Captcha.
Step-3 Verify all the details on the EPFO page and then submit.
Step 4: In further processing, an OTP will be received on the mobile number.
Step 5: Enter OTP, click on valid OTP and activate UAN.
This will activate the UAN and the password will be sent to the mobile number. PF balance can be seen only after six hours of activating UAN.
