NPCI FASTag New Rule February 2025: The new rules of FASTag have changed from February 17 and according to this, if the FASTag is blacklisted, then you will have a total of 70 minutes to fix it. FASTag New Rule: The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has made some changes in the rules related to FASTag and it is very important for you to know about them. Yes, in fact, many times such a situation arises that you reach the toll plaza and there you come to know that the balance in your FASTag is low. In such a situation, you have to pay double the charge and this is not right for anyone. If you know about the new rules of FASTag that will be implemented from February 17 next week, then you will be saved from paying double the fee.

The rules came into effect from February 17

The National Payments Corporation of India had issued a circular on 28 January 2025 and stated the new rules for FASTag balance validation. If your FASTag gets blacklisted, now you will have some more time to fix it. The new rules will come into effect from 17 February 2025.

Don’t panic

Sometimes it happens that we forget to recharge the Fastag. In such a situation it gets blacklisted. However, now people do not need to panic. After the change in rules by NPCI, now it is such that if your Fastag gets blacklisted, then you will have some more time to activate it again.

What is special in the rule

When you pass through the toll plaza with your vehicle, your transaction will be checked based on the time gap between that time and the time your FASTag is blacklisted. If your tag is not active from 60 minutes before to 10 minutes after the reader’s reading time, then your payment will be declined. The reason for this decline will be code 176.

Status of vehicles in FASTag system

Let us tell you that your vehicle can be in two conditions in Fastag, which are whitelisted and blacklisted. Your Fastag can be blacklisted due to many reasons, including low balance, KYC not updated, error in vehicle chassis number and registration number. National Payments Corporation of India has given two timelines: 60 minutes before and 10 minutes after the Fastag read time.

How will it be ok

If your FASTag is blacklisted, you will have a total of 70 minutes to correct it. Whether you are blacklisted due to low balance, KYC not updated or due to error in registration number, you will have 70 minutes. Your FASTag will become active as soon as you recharge. However, know one thing here that it may take up to 20 minutes for this information to be updated at the toll plaza.
