Fastag New Rules: Double charge will be levied for crossing toll with closed FASTag, rules have changed from today

Fastag Rules: If someone’s Fastag is closed or inactive due to any reason, then it has to be recharged 60 minutes before crossing the toll booth. This work can also be done 10 minutes after crossing the toll.

Fastag Rules: There is a big change in the rules for drivers crossing toll with Fastag from Monday i.e. today. If someone’s Fastag is blacklisted, closed or inactive for any reason, then it will have to be recharged 60 minutes before crossing the toll booth. This work can be done even 10 minutes after crossing the toll. If the driver fails in this, then he will have to pay double the toll.

The National Payment Corporation recently issued new rules, which are coming into effect from February 17. Their aim is to make toll tax collection easier and improve traffic movement at toll booths.

According to the rules, the Fastag can be blacklisted due to insufficient balance in the account, incomplete KYC or any dispute with the transport department. Drivers have been advised to keep sufficient balance in their Fastag account before reaching the toll plaza to avoid fines.

70 minutes time limit will be given for recharge

1. If the Fastag remains inactive for one hour before scanning or 10 minutes after scanning, the payment will be invalid.

What will happen: In this situation, if there is less or no money in the account, the vehicle will pass through the toll booth, but double the security amount of the Fastag will be deducted. This amount will be adjusted the next time the Fastag is recharged.

2. The driver will have a time limit of 70 minutes to recharge his blacklisted or blocked Fastag.

What does this mean: If a driver wants to cross the toll booth, he will have to recharge the blocked Fastag again 60 minutes before. He can do this even 10 minutes after crossing the booth, but during the same time the KYC process will also have to be completed again.

3. If the rules are ignored, the driver will have to make double the cash payment.

What will happen: It is mandatory to install Fastag on all types of vehicles except two-wheelers. If the Fastag is inactive or closed, drivers can use the toll booth by paying in cash. However, for this you will be charged double the normal toll fee.

Fastag will be blacklisted in these cases

  • If there is less balance in the account
  • When the KYC deadline expires
  • If there is a legal dispute related to the vehicle
  • Toll booth blacklist tag cannot be used until the dispute is resolved

Check the status of your Fastag like this

  • Visit the National Payments Corporation website (https://www.npci.org.in/). Click on the NETC Fastag option on the homepage.
  • On the new page, click on the NETC FASTag Status option at the bottom. Enter the vehicle registration number on the next page.
  • Then enter the captcha and press the Check Status button. This will show whether the vehicle is in the blacklist of Fastag or not.
  • The option to recharge it is also given on this website.
  • Verify it by paying the minimum amount. Complete the KYC process.
  • Your Fastag will become active again in a short while.
