Fastag news latest: Without a fastag, you have to pay double toll tax, know where to buy fastag and how to get recharge?

Its price for buying FASTag depends on two things. Which vehicle do you have in car, jeep, van, bus, truck, commercial vehicles etc… and the other one is from where you are buying fastag.

FASTags will be mandatory in all vehicles after a few hours. The Union Road Transport Ministry had earlier issued a directive to implement it from 1 January. However, giving relief to the people, the government extended this ultimatum to 15 February. FASTags will be compulsory in vehicles from 15 February onwards i.e. 12 pm tonight.




Electronic toll collection system FASTag will be necessary to pay the toll charge across the country. You will need it while crossing any toll plaza of National Highway. Waiting time in toll plazas for vehicles from Fastag will decrease as compared to cash transactions.

What is Fastag?

Fastag is a type of sticker that appears on the windscreen of your vehicle. The sticker is placed inside the windshield of the car and has a bar code. The device uses radio frequency identification technology that connects directly to the scanner on the toll plaza. Money is deducted from your Fastag account while passing the car.

In this case, if this fast is installed on your car, then you can easily leave the toll plaza without any hindrance. You can connect Fastag to your wallet, debit or credit card. In such cases, where the toll will be charged, there will be money deducted from your account.

What if you enter the lane without a tag?

If your car is not fastened, then you will not be allowed to enter the marshal lane first. But if you made the mistake of entering the fast-lane lane, then you will have to pay double the toll of your car on that plaza.

Where to buy FASTag?

Your ID is required along with the vehicle registration documents to purchase Fastag. FASTags can be purchased from any toll booth across the country. Apart from this, you can buy from 22 banks including State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, Kotak Bank, Paytm Payments Bank and IDFC First Bank. At the same time, it is also available on e-commerce platforms like Paytm, Amazon and Flipkart. Many banks are offering discounts, exclusive offers and cashback on purchasing FASTags from their mobile apps.

How much does it cost?

Its price for buying FASTag depends on two things. Which vehicle do you have in car, jeep, van, bus, truck, light commercial vehicles, construction machine etc… and the other is where you are buying fastag. Regarding issue fees and security deposits, its value may vary in different banks.

Fastag Now you can also buy from Paytm sitting at home.

For example, FastTag on PayTM will cost you 500 rupees, out of which 250 rupees is refundable security deposit. If you buy under offers on different platforms, you will have a lower price.

How to recharge?

If Fastag is connected to NHAI prepaid wallet, it can be recharged. It can be recharged through UPI / Debit or Credit Card / NEFT / Net Banking etc. If the bank account is linked to Fastag, then the money is deducted directly from the account. At the same time, if the Paytm wallet is linked to the fasttag, it can be recharged directly from the wallet.

How much validity do you get?

The requirement that you keep minimum balance in your Fastag account has been removed. You can recharge it according to your need and convenience. Fastag’s validity is five years from the date of issue. Its validity does not increase on recharging.
