Fastag Transactions Rules: Everyone likes road trips. If you are also fond of road trips or you travel a lot on the highway for work, then there is great news for you. NHAI (National Highway Authority of India) has ordered major changes in the IT system and hardware at toll plazas. This will make fastag transactions faster than now. Fast processing of transactions will reduce the time taken at toll plazas considerably.

Equipment from certified manufacturers

As of now, devices installed at many toll plazas often fail to read Fastag. Due to this, toll plaza employees have to scan the tag with a handheld device, which wastes a lot of time. Now the Highway Authority will keep companies with good experience in its panel. They will now have to get equipment only from manufacturers certified by STQC (Standardisation Testing and Quality Certification) of the Ministry of Electronics and IT.

STQC certification is necessary

According to IHMCL, the unit managing toll plazas of NHAI, STQC will now be necessary for RFID reader, antenna, automatic number plate reader, toll lane controller and toll plaza server. As per the new specifications of IHMCL, system integrators will have to give an undertaking to IHMCL, according to which if any problem occurs due to the equipment at the toll plaza, they will be immediately suspended from the panel.

Fastag will be recharged automatically

RBI announced a new framework for e-mandate in the monetary policy meeting held on June 7. It will provide automatic recharge facility for Fastag and National Mobility Card. For automatic recharge, customers will get the option of weekly, monthly and daily. For automatic recharge, the customer will have to set an amount. Fastag will be recharged automatically as soon as the balance reaches this amount. Customers can set up e-mandate on their debit card for regular and recurring payment transactions.
