least 30 passengers have been killed and 50 others injured in a head-on collision between two passenger trains in Ghotki district of Pakistan’s Sindh province. It is being told that this train accident happened near Dharki. According to Pakistani media, there has been a collision between Millat Express and Sir Syed Express train. Sir Syed Express was going from Lahore to Karachi.
According to Dawn newspaper, due to this head-on collision, the bogies of Millat Express overturned. After this horrific train accident, emergency was declared in the hospitals of Ghotki, Obaro and Mirpur. Ghotki’s deputy commissioner Osman Abdullah said at least 30 people were killed and 50 others were injured. Due to overturning of bogies, it is difficult to evacuate people.
‘6 to 8 bogies have been completely destroyed’
Pakistani officials have feared that the death toll could rise significantly. The Deputy Commissioner said that 13 to 14 bogies were overturned in the accident. Of these, 6 to 8 have been completely destroyed. He said that many people are still trapped in the bogies and it is facing a lot of challenge to rescue them. The Deputy Commissioner said that the relief train has been dispatched.
Officials did not say how long the relief and rescue work would last. The Deputy Commissioner said that this is a very challenging task. Big machines will have to be brought to the spot to rescue the people trapped in the bogies. He said that all the doctors have been called for work. A medical camp is being set up to provide relief to the passengers.
