Finance ministry informed parliament about new income tax portal technical-issues

New Income Tax Portal: The new Income Tax Portal was launched on 7th June, but due to technical problems coming from the very first day on the portal, Infosys got reprimanded by the government. Now the government has given an answer in Parliament on what is the latest situation.


New Income Tax Portal: The issue of technical difficulties in the new Income Tax Portal also arose in the Parliament. The government has informed the Parliament about the problems of the portal. The government has said that Infosys has acknowledged the technical issues encountered on the new Income Tax website and some issues such as slow working of the portal and non-availability of some functions have been resolved.

No end of problems on new income tax portal

Let us tell you that on 7th June, Income Tax Department had launched its new port www.Incometax.gov.in , taxpayers had to face many problems from day one. Many people including taxpayers, tax experts complained about this. The matter was immediately taken up by the country’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and on June 22, held a meeting with Infosys officials and directed them to resolve the problems immediately. Let us tell you that Infosys is the company that creates and maintains this new portal.

Government gave this answer in Parliament 

Minister of State for Finance, Pankaj Choudhary, in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, said that the government has received 700 e-mails from taxpayers, tax professionals, and institutions, including organizations like ICAI, in which more than 2000 problems were reported. In which 90 cases were unique. The Minister of State for Finance told Parliament that Infosys has acknowledged the technical difficulties encountered in the functioning of the portal and is being continuously rectified. There has been some reduction in the hassles faced by taxpayers regarding portal slowdown, non-availability of certain functions or technical issues.

He told the Parliament that the Income Tax Department is taking steps for reforms in association with Infosys based on the feedback from the stakeholders. In the year 2019, Infosys was entrusted with the task of developing the next generation income tax filing system. Due to which the processing time of returns is reduced from 63 days to 1 day and refunds will also be expedited.
