Environment Minister gave information
Minister Gopal Rai said that as the winter season approaches, the level of pollution in Delhi starts increasing. After the month of October, as winter increases and moisture comes into the atmosphere, the level of pollution increases. The air of Delhi becomes quite poisonous in the months of October and November. To control pollution during this entire winter season, the government has started the process of making a winter action plan. Under this, a series of meetings is starting with officials of all departments. To control pollution, the ban on production, storage and online and offline sale of firecrackers will continue this year too.
‘Winter Action Plan’ to reduce pollution in the capital
He said that due to bursting of firecrackers on Diwali, we have seen earlier that the next day the whole of Delhi gets covered in smoke and when the stubble smoke gets mixed in it, the pollution reaches dangerous levels. In view of this, the Supreme Court had said in 2018 that only green firecrackers should be allowed. But it was seen that all types of firecrackers were burnt under the guise of green firecrackers. After this, in 2020, NGT said that there should be a complete ban on firecrackers in Delhi NCR, where there is a lot of pollution. Keeping this in mind, a complete ban was imposed on the manufacturing and storage of firecrackers inside Delhi in 2021. There was a complete ban on firecrackers in Delhi even in 2022. He said that this year the pollution level in Delhi is continuously declining. But still the pollution is not favorable for health standards, hence this year also the government has decided that there will be a complete ban on manufacturing, storage, sale, online sale, online delivery and burning of all types of firecrackers. This big decision has been taken under the Winter Action Plan.
