Flight canceled: Indigo Airlines canceled all flights to and from this airport – Details

Due to heavy rains in Tiruvannamalai district, holiday has been declared in all schools. Also, all schools and colleges in Puducherry and Karaikal will remain closed for the next two days. This decision has been taken after the warning issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) regarding cyclonic storm ‘Fengal’.

Flight canceled Update: Amid the threat of cyclone in Tamil Nadu, IndiGo Airlines has temporarily suspended all arrival and departure flights at Chennai airport due to bad weather. The airlines said that giving priority to the safety of passengers and pilots-cabin crew, flight operations will be resumed when the weather improves. We advise passengers to contact their respective airlines for real-time updates.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rains in many parts of Tamil Nadu due to cyclone ‘Fengal’. Meanwhile, all schools have been declared closed due to heavy rains in Tiruvannamalai district. Similarly, it has been decided to keep all schools and colleges closed for the next two days in Puducherry and Karaikal.

The Tamil Nadu government has also said that schools and colleges will remain closed in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu districts. It has also been directed that no special classes or examinations will be conducted for the students. In other districts for which heavy rain warning has been issued, the District Collector has been asked to take a decision on declaring holiday in schools and colleges as per the prevailing situation.

Leave the house only when necessary!

According to Dr. S Balachandran, Director of Chennai’s Regional Meteorological Center, Cyclone Fengal will have a greater impact on coastal areas such as the areas between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram. The wind speed can reach up to 90 km per hour. Keeping this situation in mind, the government of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry has appealed to the citizens to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.

IT companies advised to work from home

The Tamil Nadu State Disaster Management Authority has also advised the general public to avoid going to the beach, visiting amusement parks and indulging in other fun activities. IT companies in Tamil Nadu have been requested to instruct their employees to work from home tomorrow. Meanwhile, public transport services on the East Coast Road (ECR) and Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR) will be temporarily suspended.
