Due to very low visibility, the speed of vehicles on the road has come to a halt and flight operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) have been badly affected. Due to fog, about 150 flights to and from Delhi are flying late and 33 flights have been cancelled.

Delhi Airport issued advisory

Delhi Airport said in a post on social media platform X on Saturday morning, “While landings and take-offs continue at Delhi Airport, flights that do not comply with CAT-3 standards may be affected. Passengers are requested to contact the concerned airline for updated flight information. We deeply regret any inconvenience.”

Earlier, a post on X had said, “Due to dense fog at Delhi airport, flight operations have been affected. Passengers are requested to contact the concerned airline for updated information on flights. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

IndiGo also said this

At the same time, IndiGo had said in a post on social media platform X at 1.05 pm, “Due to low visibility, arrivals and departures at Delhi airport have been stopped for the time being.”

What is the weather forecast in Delhi

According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in Delhi is expected to be 9 and maximum temperature 20 degrees Celsius on Saturday. However, the fog will continue to wreak havoc. In the coming days, the cold may increase further in Delhi and there is also a possibility of light rain. A severe cold wave is expected in January.

Orange alert for cold issued

The India Meteorological Department has issued a warning regarding cold and fog in Delhi. There is severe cold in many states of North India including Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan. Due to this, orange alert has been issued at some places and yellow alert at others.

Heavy cold alert for next 2 days

According to IMD, cold days and fog conditions may persist for the next 2 days in North West and Central India. The possibility of very dense fog in different places of Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi on 3 and 4 January late night/morning was already predicted. At the same time, there is severe cold in Uttar Pradesh as well. Visibility is also very low. Visibility has come down to 50-100 meters at many places. A warning of very dense fog was issued in UP.

Visibility was also just 10 meters in Bahadurgarh adjoining the capital Delhi. Cold wind is blowing at a speed of 5 kilometers per hour. The level of air pollution here was also recorded very bad. AQI has crossed 300.

At the same time, people are going out cautiously due to cold in Delhi NCR. Vehicles can be seen crawling on the road. This has also affected air and rail services. Flight operations at IGI have been affected due to dense fog. Movement and departure have been stopped.
