Air India Flight: Tata Group company Air India has said that Mumbai-Melbourne and Kochi-London Gatwick services will be discontinued due to temporary operational fleet reduction amid a renewal program for old Boeing 787 aircraft. The company further said that from March 30, it will operate more flights on routes connecting Britain, Europe, Far East Asia and Africa.
According to a press release issued by Tata, the company’s first Boeing 787 aircraft will be fitted with new seats and entertainment systems in April and the aircraft is expected to join the fleet again in October this year. At the same time, the renovation work of old Boeing 777 aircraft has been delayed and will start in early 2026.
Number of flights to Europe and Africa will increase
Air India, which is running in loss, has more than 60 wide-body aircraft including Boeing 777 and 787. The airline will increase the number of flights to Britain, Europe, Far East Asia and Africa for the Northern Summer Program effective from March 30 to October 25.
At the same time, the number of weekly flights on the Amritsar-Birmingham and Amritsar-London Gatwick routes will be increased from three to four, while the number of weekly flights on the Ahmedabad-London Gatwick route will be increased from three to five. Air India said its Mumbai-Melbourne and Kochi-London Gatwick services will be discontinued due to reduction in the operational fleet.
