Delhi Airport: It is possible that in the coming days, catching a flight from Delhi Airport may become more expensive for you as compared to other airports. In fact, DIAL has said that due to the increase in the fee, the domestic air fare at Delhi Airport will increase by 1.5-2 percent.

Delhi IGI Airport: If you also travel by flight often, then this news is of use to you. Yes, the day is not far when flying from Delhi Airport is going to become expensive. The proposed fee hike at Delhi Airport will increase domestic air fares for passengers by one and a half to two percent. An official gave information about this. Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), which operates the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in the national capital, has proposed different user charges for economy and business class categories and for peak and other hours.

YPP will increase from the current Rs 145 to Rs 370

About 10.9 crore passengers travel at this airport annually. DIAL Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Videh Kumar Jaipuriar said that after the approval of the higher fee, the Per Passenger Revenue (YPP) will increase from the current Rs 145 to Rs 370. YPP includes airline and passenger fees. The proposed increase is about 140 percent compared to the 2006 level, when the GMR Group-led consortium DIAL took over the airport.

30 percent of Rs 370 should be airline charges

Jaipuriyar said in a conversation with the media, ‘As suggested by AERA, about 30 percent of Rs 370 should be for airline charges and 70 percent for passenger charges. Right now it is 68 percent airline fee and 32 percent passenger fee. He said that with the higher fee, the average maximum increase on domestic fares will be 1.5 to two percent and this increase in international fares will be less than one percent.

Consultation is going on regarding the fee proposal submitted to the Airport Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA). This proposal is for the period from April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2029. At present, the User Development Fee (UDF) is around Rs 77 per passenger.
