Due to low visibility, timings of many flights were changed at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. Along with this, routes of many flights were diverted.

Dense fog over the airport
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) released a report indicating that there was very dense fog at the airport in the morning, with Runway Visual Range (RVR) recorded between 125 and 175 meters on all runways. IMD said, “There is very dense fog with zero visibility at Delhi IGI Airport from 0530 AM IST today.

Warning issued regarding flight
Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) said in an advisory to passengers – In response to the challenging weather conditions, airlines including SpiceJet issued warnings to passengers about possible disruptions in departures and arrivals. Landings and take offs are continuing at Delhi airport, flights which are not CAT III compliant may be affected. Passengers are requested to contact the respective airlines for updated flight information. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Many flights diverted due to fog
SpiceJet said in a tweet on Monday morning, “Due to inclement weather in Delhi, all departures/arrivals and their resulting flights may be affected. “Passengers are requested to keep checking their flight status.” According to sources, due to poor visibility many flights were delayed and many flights were diverted. There was fog in Delhi on Monday morning and the minimum temperature in the national capital dropped to the seasonal average of 7.8 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature is likely to be around 25 degrees with mainly clear sky and light to moderate fog.
Delhi’s air still ‘very bad’
The air quality in Delhi improved from ‘severe’ to ‘very poor’ category on Monday, with the AQI reaching 392 at 10 am today. The India Meteorological Department said on Monday that the city was covered with a thick layer of fog and the minimum temperature reached 7.8 degrees Celsius. According to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, today’s AQI was slightly better than the figure of 411 (‘severe’ category) recorded at 4 pm on Sunday. Flight operations were affected due to bad weather in Hyderabad. Due to bad weather at Hyderabad airport, the flight returned to Bengaluru, Mumbai. On December 25, there was dense fog in Hyderabad for the second consecutive day. Visibility at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport dropped to just 300 metres, a first this winter season.
