Follow These Gardening Tips To Save Your Garden Plants In Scorching Heat Of Summer Season

This is the time to protect the plants in your garden. In the month of May, flowers like Gulmohar, Amaltas, Sawhney and Plumeria grow on trees. Vines have mogra, jasmine, boganvillea, bignonia and alamanda (yellow flowers) in their youth. It is the time for the blooming of the bushes, the queen of the night, the moonlight, the jaggery. If you have not planted them yet, then this is still the right time to plant them.

How to irrigate in summer

At this time the temperature is very high. Now it is necessary to water the house plants daily. If there is excess heat, water may also have to be given twice a day. If possible, use a drip irrigation system to water bushes, vines and trees. This will save water as well as irrigate them properly. In the evening, water should be sprayed on the leaves along with the plants.

How to retain moisture?

The mulching technique can retain moisture. In nature, mulching occurs naturally from fallen leaves, twigs, flowers and other materials. These natural mulchs form a protective covering over the soil, thereby retaining moisture. The use of organic materials such as dried leaves, bark or dung manure is better for mulching as they contribute to better ventilation and soil conditioning in addition to adding nutrition to the soil.

Weeds get moisture from shallow rooted plants, which causes other plants and trees to be deprived of moisture. This unwanted vegetation should be removed. One way to increase moisture is to keep the pots together in groups and keep water in a tub or bucket between them. This will bring moisture to the air around the plants. Do not give chemical fertilizer to plants this month.

How to prevent pests?

Regularly remove wild twigs from rose bushes. Spray NPK 19:19:19 (found mostly in nurseries or fertilizer shops) in the lawn in 2 g / liter of water in this month and spray it twice. In summer, powdery mildew may develop on the leaves of roses and some other indoor plants including dahlias. Spray fungicides called Mancozeb and Carbendazim on plants (2 g / liter of water) and spray it once every fifteen days.

How to avoid sunlight?

Some permanent plants such as croton as well as seasonal plants such as calcium and gloxinia etc. require some protection from the direct rays of the sun in this month. As far as possible, the plants should be taken to a place where they get direct sunlight only in the morning and evening. In case of large plants, try to provide a shed of overhead net.
