Farmer Protests: Actually, the green sign boards used to tell the place and distance on the roads are seen in the photographs. On these sign boards, people can be seen putting the information written in languages other than Punjabi.

Some pictures are going viral on social media in view of the farmers’ movement. Through them, it is being claimed that Hindi language is being targeted in the peasant movement in Punjab. Actually, the green sign boards used to tell the place and distance on the roads are seen in the photographs. On these sign boards, people can be seen putting the information written in languages other than Punjabi.

Social media users share these pictures and write in caption, “As the days are passing, the real face of the so-called farmer movement is also coming in front of everyone. After breaking the tower, Hindi will no longer run in Punjab. ”

Please tell that a few days ago, there were reports from Punjab that mobile towers were being damaged there during the Kisan agitation .

India Today Anti-Fake News War Room (AFWA) found that the claim being made in the post is misleading. These pictures are from October 2017 when fiery Sikh organizations in some parts of Punjab had put a black vessel on the sign board during a protest.

Organizations demanded that Punjabi language should be given priority on the sign board and the name of the place on the board should be written at the top of Punjabi.

On Facebook and Twitter , these photos are increasingly shared with incorrect information. The archive of the viral post can be seen here .

What is the truth?

On reverse searching the photos, we found these photos in an article which was published in October 2017. Regarding this, we also got a report of ‘India TV’, in which full information was given about these pictures.

In this news published on 25 October 2017, it has been told that these pictures are of the Bathinda-Faridkot highway. Here some Sikh organizations had protested demanding the importance of the Punjabi language and on the sign board, the names of the places written in English and Hindi were blackened. There is also a video on ‘India TV’ YouTube account on this matter. Actually people said that the names of places on the sign board in Punjab should be written in Hindi and English in Punjabi language.

According to the news, a case was registered against 150 people for causing damage to the government property. At that time, ‘Hindustan Times’ also published news on this protest .

According to a report in ‘The Tribune’ , some protesters also said that the sign boards used to write an absurd Hindi and English translation of the names of the villages coming to Bathinda and Faridkot. This causes problems to the passengers and also insults the Punjabi language.

In October 2017, some other websites and blogs also used these pictures.

Here it is confirmed that these pictures are more than three years old and it has nothing to do with the current farmer movement.
