Free Aadhaar Update: The deadline to update Aadhaar without any charge was ending on 14 December. But, the Unique Identification Authority has once again extended the deadline for updating Aadhaar free of charge.
Free Aadhaar Update: If you want to change your address or mobile number on the Aadhaar card, or want to correct the spelling of your name, then you can update Aadhaar from your mobile sitting at home. There will be no charge for this. Today was the last date for updating free Aadhaar, but it has been extended for three more months.
The Unique Identification Authority has once again extended the deadline for free Aadhaar updating. The deadline for updating Aadhaar without any charge was ending on December 14. Giving information about extension of the deadline, Aadhaar authority UIDAI said that in view of the positive responses received from the citizens, it has been decided to extend the date for updating Aadhaar. Now through My Aadhaar portal, it can be updated without paying any fee till March 14, 2024.
Free facility to update Aadhaar details was available on My Aadhaar portal. If a user updates Aadhaar offline by going to Aadhaar center instead of online, then he has to pay a fee of Rs 25. Now even after the extension of the date, the same system will remain intact. That means, the facility of free Aadhaar updation will be available only in case of online.
Documents required to update Aadhaar
Ration card, voter ID card, government issued identity card/address certificate and Indian passport serve as proof of both identity and address.
PAN card, driving license, secondary or senior secondary school marksheet/school leaving certificate with photograph, government issued identity card/certificate – serve as proof of identity only.
Electricity/water/gas bill (last 3 months), bank/post office passbook, rent/lease/leave & license agreement works as address proof only.
