Every house gets electricity
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government had launched Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (Saubhagya) to provide electricity to every house in the country. The Saubhagya scheme was started on 25 September 2017 on the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya with the aim of providing electricity to all villages in states like Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Jammu Kashmir, Jharkhand, Delhi, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh.
What is good luck plan?
Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (Saubhagya) has been launched to ensure the availability of electricity especially to poor people. Those who are named in the socio-economic census of 2011, are given free electricity connection under the Saubhagya scheme.
Electricity connection
Those who are not named in the socio-economic census, they can get electricity connection at a fee of only 500 rupees. Such people can also pay this 500 rupees in ten easy monthly installments.
No electricity then?
Under the Saubhagya scheme, the government will give a solar pack to every household, which will have five LED bulbs and a fan, in areas where there is no electricity yet. According to the four crore houses in the country deprived of electricity, the government had kept a budget of 16 thousand crore rupees in the year 2019 for the Saubhagya scheme. Under the Saubhagya scheme, the government will make kerosene an alternative to electricity.
Electrical appliance boost
A large fund has also been set up by the state-owned ONGC for startups to promote innovation. The government wants the youth to take initiative to make household appliances and low energy consumption electrical appliances.
