Free Electricity Update: There is a relief news for farmers having private tube wells. Under the free electricity scheme, they can register themselves till 15th July. A letter has been sent to the electricity department by the government. There are a total of 30 thousand 400 farmers having private tube wells for irrigation in Yamunapar and Gangapar. The government had announced waiver of irrigation electricity bills in the last financial year.

It was said in the instructions that the defaulters of private tube wells will have to deposit the outstanding bills before April 1, 2023. Also, it is necessary to have an electricity meter installed on their tube well. The date of registration for farmers fulfilling these criteria to avail the benefit of the bill waiver scheme was fixed as June 30. But most of the farmers who owe crores of rupees neither deposited their outstanding bills nor got themselves registered. According to departmental data, only 1294 farmers (4%) from Yamunapar and Gangapar have registered themselves so far. Whereas 29 thousand 106 farmers are still away from the bill waiver scheme due to non-registration. Superintending Engineer Lokesh Chandra and Najm Ahmed said that the date of registration in the electricity bill waiver scheme of private tube wells has been extended. Earlier June 30 was the date of registration.

This is how registration will be done

Zone 2 Chief Engineer VD Ambardar said that connection holders can go to the subdivision office and get registered. Apart from this, one can register by going to the website UPPCL.org and clicking on Uttar Pradesh Krishak Vidyut Bill Waiver Scheme.
