PM Surya Ghar Yojana: Under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, a person installing 1-kilowatt rooftop solar system is given a subsidy of Rs 30,000, while those installing 2-kilowatt solar panel get a subsidy of up to Rs 60,000.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in February 2024 this year. Under this scheme, up to 300 units of free electricity is available and along with this, a strong subsidy is also given by the government for installing solar rooftop on the roof of your house. This government scheme is becoming quite popular and in Uttar Pradesh, the number of its subscribers is increasing continuously. Let us know how you can take advantage of this scheme and what is the math of subsidy…
43000 solar panels installed in UP
First of all, let’s talk about Uttar Pradesh where the government has planned to develop Ayodhya as a solar city and work on it has also started. According to the target set by the government, there is a preparation to install 25 lakh solar rooftop panels in the state within 3 years and so far 43,000 people have installed solar panels in the state. Not only this, the people who have installed them, seem to be completely satisfied.
1.30 crore registrations so far
It takes up to a month to issue subsidy under this scheme (Free Bijli Scheme Subsidy). But the government is also preparing to settle it in just 7 days. If we talk about the number of applicants, then this figure is increasing continuously. According to PIB, so far 1.30 crore people have registered under this free electricity scheme, while around 18 lakh applications have been received.
This is how the government transfers subsidy
Under this scheme, solar panels are installed on the roof of the house, on which the government gives subsidy. This reduces the electricity bill. Also, you can generate more electricity and sell it to the government. On installing Solar Rooftop, the government transfers the subsidy money directly to the bank account. This reduces the burden of installing solar panels. The government gives a subsidy of Rs 30 thousand per kilowatt up to 2 kilowatt, Rs 48 thousand per kilowatt up to 3 kilowatt and Rs 78000 for more than 3 kilowatt.
