Free electricity up to 300 units, subsidy up to Rs 78,000, know how to avail the scheme

If you are installing a 1 kilowatt solar panel, then it can cost around Rs 90 thousand, for 2 kilowatt it can cost around Rs 1.5 lakh and for 3 kilowatt it can cost up to Rs 2 lakh.

Before the Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the PM Surya Ghar Free Bijli Scheme, under which a target has been set to provide free electricity up to 300 units with an investment of Rs 75000 crore. Under this, there is a plan to benefit 1 crore families. Also, you can also benefit by selling the remaining electricity. Apart from this, the central government will also provide subsidy under this scheme.

If you also want to take advantage of the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Bijli Scheme, then you will have to install solar panels. However, before installing solar panels, you should know about some special things in detail. So that you do not face any problem in taking advantage of the scheme. Let’s know the full details…

How much will it cost?

If you are going to install solar panels, then its cost can vary. The cost for 1 kilowatt can be around 90 thousand rupees, for 2 kilowatt it can be around 1.5 lakh rupees and for 3 kilowatt it can be up to 2 lakh rupees.

Who will get how much subsidy?

If you are planning to install solar panels on the roof for a residential house, then you can apply for subsidy under PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. Under this scheme, a total subsidy of Rs 18 thousand will be given for 1 kW, Rs 30,000 for up to 2 kW and Rs 78,000 for 3 kW. To avail the subsidy, the load should not be more than 85%.

You will save this much electricity bill in 4 years

Installing solar panels on the roof is a long-term investment. 1 kilowatt can generate up to 120 kilowatt hours of electricity and a total annual saving of Rs 30,240 can be made from a 3 kilowatt solar panel at Rs 7 per unit. However, the cost of 3 kilowatt is Rs 2 lakh and a subsidy of Rs 78000 is given, so in this case the cost would be Rs 1.2 lakh. That means, in 4 years, you will be able to recover the entire cost by saving electricity worth Rs 30 thousand every year.
