What is LTC: The government has given another big facility to the central employees. The central government said that now the employees will get a chance to travel in trains like Humsafar, Tejas and Vande Bharat under LTC and that too at concessional rates or for free.
New Delhi. The central government has given its lakhs of employees the facility to travel free in the country’s luxury trains. Now central employees will be able to travel in private train Tejas in addition to luxury trains like Vande Bharat and Humsafar. That too has been allowed to travel completely free. This means that now the central government employees will be able to get the facility of free train travel with family.
The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) said in its order that the Center has allowed its employees to travel by Tejas, Vande Bharat and Humsafar trains under Leave Travel Concession (LTC). This step has been taken after receiving many suggestions from various offices / individuals regarding the acceptability of various premium trains under LTC.
In which other trains is this facility available
DoPT said in its order that this department looked into the matter in consultation with the Department of Expenditure and it has been decided that apart from the existing Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto trains, now travel will also be allowed in Tejas Express, Vande Bharat Express and Humsafar Express trains under LTC as per the eligibility of government employees.
How to avail LTC
On availing LTC, eligible Central Government employees get back the money spent on tickets for other journeys in addition to paid leave. This means that under LTC, the government not only gives them leave but also reimburses them the money spent on travel. Through LTC, employees can travel to any part of the country within four years. The government reimburses some part of the travel expenses to the employees. Its purpose is to encourage employees to spend holidays with their families.
Discount in air travel too
It is not that the government gives discount only for travelling in trains under LTC, in the new rule, discount is also given on air travel. According to DoPT, if you travel to North-Eastern states, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh-Andaman and Nicobar Islands till September 25, 2026, then you will be given discount on air travel. However, it is important to know that discount for air travel can be given only to employees eligible for air travel.
