Maha Ashtami and Mahanavami festival will be celebrated on 11 October 2024, due to which banks will remain closed in many states. This day is an important time for the worship of Goddess Durga, when devotees worship her. All public and private sector banks will remain closed in Tripura, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Meghalaya. However, online banking service will continue to be available so that customers do not face any problem in banking service.
These forms of Goddess Durga are worshipped during Ashtami and Navami
Maha Ashtami: On this day, the Kali form of Goddess Durga is worshipped especially. It is considered a symbol of strength and courage. On Ashtami, the eighth form of the nine forms of the Goddess is worshipped. Special rituals are performed on this day, such as havan and kanya pujan, in which virgin girls aged 2 to 10 years are worshipped.
Mahan Navami: On this day, the Siddhidatri form of Goddess Durga is worshipped. On Navami, the ninth form of the nine forms of the Goddess is worshipped. This day symbolizes victory and is often celebrated as Vijay Dashami or Dussehra, when Goddess Durga conquered the demons.
