Ganga Expressway : Journey from Meerut to Prayagraj will be comfortable

Lucknow. Before the assembly elections, the Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will give another expressway to the state. The foundation stone of Ganga Expressway starting from Meerut in West UP to Prayagraj will be laid in the month of September. Preparations have been completed for this. More than 80 percent of the land has been acquired for this expressway project. After laying the foundation stone of this ambitious project, the state government has set a deadline to complete it in 26 months. This 594 km long project will cost about Rs 36,402 crore. Keeping in view the requirements of the future, it will be made completely hi-tech.




So that no more investment is required on it in the coming years.

Ganga Expressway will pass through 12 districts and 519 villages of Uttar Pradesh. On this, vehicles will swell at a speed of 120 km per hour. It has been designed according to this speed. According to the information, vehicles will be allowed entry and exit on the expressway only through specific toll plazas. For this, two main toll plazas will be built. To keep the speed uninterrupted, tolls will be made in Meerut and Prayagraj. The Uttar Pradesh government plans to start its construction work by laying the foundation stone before the assembly elections to be held next year. So far 5,261 hectares of land has been purchased from 63,362 farmers for this expressway. The procurement process for the remaining 1,221 hectares of land is in progress. According to the proposed plan, the Ganga Expressway will be of 6 lanes. But according to the requirement it can be increased to 8 lanes.

This expressway will start from near Bijauli village of Meerut in UP West. It will end at Judapur Dandu village of Prayagraj in East UP. This expressway will pass through 12 districts of the state including Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj. 519 villages will be directly connected by the expressway.

The length of the expressway in Meerut will be 15 km. The length will be 33 km in Hapur, 11 km in Bulandshahr, 26 km in Amroha, 39 km in Sambhal, 92 km in Budaun, 40 km in Shahjahanpur and 99 km in Hardoi. The expressway will be 105 km in Unnao, 77 km in Rae Bareli, 41 km in Pratapgarh and 16 km in Prayagraj. There will be two main toll plazas at Meerut and Prayagraj. 15 ramp toll plazas will be set up across the expressway.

The expressway will also be made useful for the Air Force. An airstrip for the Air Force will be constructed in Sultanpur district. The maximum speed of vehicles will be 120 kmph. In future the travel time between Delhi and Prayagraj will be reduced. After its construction, the journey will take 6-7 hours instead of 10-11 hours.

Under the project, a one kilometer long bridge will be built on the river Ganga. Another 720 meter long bridge will be built on the tributary Ramganga. In the construction of the entire expressway, 14 major bridges, 126 minor bridges, 929 culverts, 7 ROBs, 28 flyovers and 8 diamond interchanges will be built. A 120 meter wide railway overbridge will also be constructed.

A concrete boundary wall will be built on the side of the expressway. So that the movement of stray animals and local people can be stopped. The UP Expressway Industrial Development Authority has divided the project into 12 packages to complete the project within the deadline. The progress of these packages will be reviewed by making a time table.
