According to railway rules, if a passenger has to travel for a distance of less than 199 kilometers, then he should not buy the ticket more than 3 hours in advance. This means that tickets issued only a maximum of 3 hours before your journey will be valid. Whereas if you have to undertake a journey of 200 kilometers or more, then you can take the ticket even 3 days in advance.
