Good Job: Top-5 IT companies of the country have made a plan to give jobs, 96 thousand people will be recruited in 2021-22

New Delhi. Nasscom, the apex body of IT companies, on Thursday said the information technology sector continues to be the largest recruiter of skilled talent. The top five companies in the IT sector plan to hire more than 96 thousand employees in the current financial year. This statement from Nasscom comes at a time when Bank of America in a report has projected software companies to lay off three million employees by 2022, especially in the tech sector, due to increased automation.

Nasscom said in a statement that with the development of technology and increase in automation, the nature of traditional IT jobs and roles will evolve holistically, thereby creating new jobs. The IT sector has recorded the highest recruitment of skilled talent and has employed 1,38,000 people in FY21. He emphasized that IT companies have prepared a strong plan to recruit more than 96 thousand in the financial year 2021-22.

India committed to increase employment opportunities for youth

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Labor and Employment, Santosh Gangwar said that India is committed to improve the employment environment for its youth. According to a statement issued by the Labor Ministry, Gangwar has said that India is committed to increasing employment opportunities for all youth, including women and vulnerable sections, through a sustainable, long-term commitment to better opportunities. He said that the government was doing everything possible to improve the bridge between education and employment and to prepare the youth for future work. Several policies and schemes have been launched for the upliftment of youth through skill development, employment generation and entrepreneurship programs.

Leveraging the strengths of the Ministry, UNICEF and associated network members, we hope to provide our young generation with many options to better shape and contribute to the future of the country, he added. The Minister appreciated the idea of ​​partnership between the Ministry and UNICEF to provide necessary skills and guidance to the youth of the country. He said that this collaboration is a starting point to facilitate direct dialogue and feedback mechanism between youth and other stakeholders including policy makers.

He said that the National Career Service (NCS), launched in 2015, caters to the employment and career needs of the youth. It provides a wide range of employment related services like vocational advice, vocational guidance, information on skill development courses, apprenticeship, internship etc. The Minister informed that several initiatives have been taken by the NCS to mitigate the challenges in the labor market due to COVID-19 and consequent lockdown of the economy. Online job fairs are being organized to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers, where the entire cycle from placement at the job site to the selection of the candidate can be completed on the portal.
