New Metro Line: Good news for Delhiites! The first section of Metro’s Phase-4 is about to open, know where you can go from where to where

Under Phase-4 of the Delhi Metro, the Magenta Line is being extended from Janakpuri West to Ramakrishna Ashram Marg. Its first section, Janakpuri West to Krishna Park Extension (2.2 km, underground), is expected to open next month. Passengers will have to change trains at Janakpuri West. The entire corridor will be 29.26 km long and will have 22 new stations.

New Delhi: The first section of the Metro’s Phase-4 is going to open soon for passenger movement. The Magenta Line of the Metro, built in Phase-3 between Botanical Garden in Noida and Janakpuri West in Delhi, is being extended beyond Janakpuri West to Ramakrishna Ashram Marg in Phase-4. A small part of this line is set to be opened for passengers soon. Under this, the Metro will start operating between Janakpuri West and Krishna Park Extension, which will be the first section of Phase-4. With this, another new station will also be added to the operational network of the Metro.

This 2.2 km extension will be underground

The distance from Janakpuri West to Krishna Park Extension will be just 2.2 km. This entire section will be underground, but passengers will have to change trains to go from Janakpuri to Krishna Park. According to DMRC officials, Janakpuri West is currently the terminal station of the Magenta Line. There are two platforms on this underground station, from which trains for Botanical Garden used to come and go, but now one of those platforms has been reserved to go beyond Janakpuri to Krishna Park Extension, from where a separate train will take the passengers further. Passengers coming from Botanical Garden who have to go beyond Janakpuri West to Krishna Park Extension, will first have to get off the train at platform number 4 of Janakpuri West and then board another train from platform number 3 built next to it and go to Krishna Park. This system will be exactly like the one made for going from Maujpur to Shiv Vihar on the Pink Line of the Metro, in which passengers coming by the Pink Line train have to board another train from Maujpur-Babarpur and go further.

Metro line will be elevated beyond Krishna Park

Metro officials said that the metro line will be elevated beyond Krishna Park. For this, the ramp that has been built here will reverse from there and come back to Janakpuri. Since reversal takes a lot of time, so that the train operation on the rest of the line is not affected, this system has been created now, in which passengers will have to board another train to go beyond Janakpuri. At the same time, the train that comes from Botanical Garden and terminates at Janakpuri West will go back from the same platform. This will not affect the schedule of trains much. DMRC Principal Executive Director Anuj Dayal said that all the systems installed on the new section of the metro between Janakpuri West and Krishna Park Extension are being tested. Soon the trial with metro trains will also start and after that Commissioner Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) will be requested for safety inspection. DMRC hopes that by the end of next month this section will be opened for passenger use.

There will be 22 new metro stations

The extension of the Magenta Line of the Metro will be the longest among the three lines of Phase-4. Under this, a 29.26 km long metro line will be built between Janakpuri West and Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, on which there will be a total of 22 new metro stations. A 19.52 km long part of this line will be elevated and a 9.4 km long part will be underground. With the construction of this line, 8 new interchange stations will also be added to the metro network.
