Vande Bharat Express: Indian Railways will soon start Goa’s first Vande Bharat Express train. This train will connect the country’s famous tourist destination with Mumbai. According to media reports, the trial run of Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat train has already started from Mumbai’s CST railway station. From there the train will reach Madgaon station to complete the trial run before the commencement of train services.
However, no official statement about this has yet been revealed by the Indian Railways. As expected, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the train. A news media website quoted an official on condition of anonymity as saying that the train left Mumbai’s iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CST) for Goa’s Madgaon station on Tuesday morning for the trial run.
The report further states that the official refused to give details about the expected date of inauguration and the proposed route, saying “these details are yet to be finalised”.
Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express will be the fourth semi-high speed train from Mumbai. After launch, this will be the 16th Vande Bharat route. Recently, Railways discontinued the services of Vande Bharat train on Nagpur-Bilaspur route and replaced it with Tejas Express due to low passengers. The rake was sent on the Tirupati-Secunderabad route. At present, a total of 16 Vande Bharat rakes are running on 15 routes across India.
As far as CST-Madgaon Vande Bharat Express is concerned, it will reduce the travel time between the two stations. Which are already connected by many trains and one way journey takes around eight to nine hours. Presently Mumbai connects Gandhinagar, Shirdi and Solapur through Vande Bharat Express.
Apart from the Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat train on May 18, 2023. This will be the first Vande Bharat for Odisha and second for West Bengal. Another Vande Bharat Express is expected to run between Patna in Bihar and Ranchi in Jharkhand.
