This budget takes into account migrant deaths. In the General Budget 2021, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a special portal to collect information related to migrant laborers.
Sitharaman announced to launch a portal that will collect information related to building construction and construction workers with special attention to migrant laborers. Along with this, it will also prove helpful in preparing health, housing, skills, insurance, loans and food schemes for migrant workers.
The Finance Minister said that the government would complete the implementation of the four labor codes to provide social security benefits to the gig and platform workers while implementing minimum wage in all categories of workers.
